The Specifics

Spending time outside can make us all happier and healthier, and many of us don’t do it nearly enough. That’s why we have $5,000 to help you use the great outdoors to do GOOD in your community. Whether you want to organize an educational trip to the tidepools, start a rock-climbing club for kids, or plant flowers in a communal garden, we want to know what you’re up to! Tell us how you’ll be doing GOOD while getting some fresh air this summer and you’ll be eligible for $5,000.

Tell us how your outdoor project is promoting social change from June 15 to July 19 (noon Pacific Time). From July 19 to August 3 (noon Pacific Time), we’ll open it up to public voting. Rally your colleagues and friends to get behind your effort and join the GOOD community in selecting the winner.

Join GOOD Maker on Twitter @GOODmkr and Facebook.

I used to work for/with community gardens and was amazed at all the benefits it offers children, families and the community at large - best of luck to your beautiful project!

Every time I see the garden I think 'what a great thing for people to do together'!

I wasn't going to say anything, but now that they're in first place I'm wondering if someone can explain why the Epitome Project even qualifies for this contest? It's not that it's not a good project, just that it doesn't seem to have much, if anything, to do with the purpose of this contest.

Is it allowed for a municipality to enter? Or a school district?

by KVogel

Yes! A municipality or school district may enter as long as the group still meets all of the eligibility requirements as stated in the official rules (http://awesome.good.is/maker/GOOD/DoGOODOutdoorsOfficialContestRules.pdf).
