This project is dedicated to creating an educational space around growing food as a community. Workshops, volunteer opportunities, tools, knowledge and other resources will be provided to ALL aspiring gardeners. All produce will be donated to local nonprofits devoted to feeding those in need.
Funds will be used to expand an already existing garden, providing tools, seeds, irrigation, fencing and other materials need to create an accessible and educational space. A small shed will be built to host a garden tool library in which community members may “check out” tools to use in their own gardens. Funds will also be used to implement free workshops providing a forum to discuss and learn about urban agriculture in Colorado. Workshops will focus on topics such as seed saving, plant/weed identification, vermiculture, composting and food preservation. People can exchange volunteer hours for produce. Relationships are already in place with organizations that serve low income families who are interested in learning about growing food.
