The Solarize Ghana project will provide access to electricity to thousands rural Ghanaians. By installing solar power systems on community buildings, training local interns and leading educational workshops, VIDA will help Ghanaians harness the power of the sun for the good of their communities.
The Solarize West Africa Program will help over 2,000 people in disadvantaged communities meet their basic needs by providing solar electricity to expand educational opportunities and refrigerate critical vaccines. By partnering with Ghanaian nonprofit organizations and providing internship opportunities and educational workshops during project implementation, VIDA will encourage indigenously supported and funded replication in other communities and continue to promote knowledge of sustainable power systems worldwide. A gift of $5,000 will provide a large portion of the equipment needed (solar panels, solar refrigerator, data logging system, etc.) to complete the solar installation in one of the eight proposed Solarize Ghana communities.
