Overview of Outdoor Idea

Youth Enrichment Services's (YES) Outdoor Adventure Program gives inner-city Boston youth the opportunity to explore the great outdoors in the summertime. Kids build self-confidence and develop leadership skills as they kayak, fish, rock climb, bike, run, and - new this year - surf with YES.

The Specifics: What will the $5,000 fund?

A $5,000 grant will directly support inner-city Boston youth who participate in YES’s Outdoor Adventure leadership and enrichment programs. In Boston, as few as one in ten youth have access to out-of-school time programs. YES fills an especially urgent need for for middle and high school students in the summer. For Summer 2012, our goal is to serve 600 Boston kids and teens.

By experiencing the outdoors and challenging themselves with new activities, youth build self-confidence, connect with positive role models, and develop a life-long passion for the outdoors. YES helps lay the foundation for youth to achieve greater success in school, work, and life.
